Means the bios is now reset. Sorry, I can't think of any further software related cause. And if it is a hardware issue, one would have to physically check on the board what is wrong with that slot. Maybe someone else here has an idea how to check and why slot 2 stops working as soon slot 1 is occupied by any stick.
Case 1: Any RAM one at a time in slot 1, the system does not boot up. Please suggest what I should do. I have the same question 0. Report abuse. Details required :. Cancel Submit. Joined Nov 2, Messages 0. Yes that normally is true but you have a dGPU so it should be disabled. With that said you can upgrade your laptop to 4 GB of physical memory, yes, but it's not completely true. See there are three system address ranges.
This means that as the amount of physical memory populated in the system reaches 4 GB, there will be physical memory that exists yet is non-addressable and therefore unusable by the system. Also, make sure the board actually supports more than 4 GB! If it doesn't and there are still boards out there that don't!

Hey, I use HWInfo to see if there any issues with the mem slots themselves. The two 4GB chips shipped with the machine. As far as I can tell, the 8GB chip is compatible. I really don't understand it. Check for BIOS updates and make sure to re-check each chip individually in each slot by itself.
NOTE:Maximum memory shown reflects the capability of the hardware and can be limited further in the operating system. I just looked at the BIOS, real barebones. Try pulling the power cable, and popping the CMOS battery out.
Discharge the power hold the power button in for about 10 seconds, then put the battery back in, plug the power back in, and power it up. Does that help? Damage to the motherboard can result.
If CPU-Z is seeing the 8GB, but the OS is not, are you absolutely, positively sure it is the bit version of the OS and you're not just assuming it is because it's a newer machine and you can't imagine someone installing bit on a newer machine? Come on, I can't be the only one who has done that. OS wouldn't matter at that point. Best Phone Chargers. Best Wi-Fi Range Extenders. Best Oculus Quest 2 Accessories. Best iPad Air Cases.
