You may find it useful to do final editing in the DOS program to enter things such as whether the field is landable or not done by hitting enter or tab until you hit the field you want to modify, do the mod and hit enter through all the other fields.

Program accepts changes when all fields have been thus selected. Volkslogger can have up to Waypoints, but only in one file at a time. After uploading you can access the Waypoints for review or editing in the logger just cut the power for a few seconds to allow the logger to reset itself first.

Otherwise 0. Install Volkslogger on camera mount with cable along canopy rail going under panel top cover to junction terminal for power or as best suited in your aircraft. Angle unit towards you so you can see screen in flight and reach buttons for TurnPoint scrolling. In flight you only need some of the menus. You can navigate directly to a point in the database, fly a set and selected task where the logger will beep when it has a good Turnpoint fix user definable in the CFG menu and advance to next TP.

Similarly you can declare and official task. There are two programs attached for use by the official observer. You can set the takeoff or AGL height before take-off for final glides. The NAV screen contains Turnpoint name, distance, bearing, ground speed and track.

This allows you to determine the wind and when track and bearing is the same you are directly on course to the set Waypoint. If you need to land in a hurry, the EMR option gives you the 5 nearest landable waypoints from your database.

In order for the logger to beep at a successful rounding of a TP you need to declare the task and set the beep function as you like it. This is very important for a badge or record attempt as the IGC file need this data, but for a contest it is probably enough to upload the trace after the flight and transfer the IGC file to the contest director.

For people familiar with CAI DOS flight analysis program, they can also use it to evaluate igc files produced by Volkslogger, as long as they have version 5. The users manual is in German, but you can get the previous version on the web in English and between the two you can surmise most of the stuff.

Windows software should be available for next season as well as an updated English manual which should be on the web page then.
