Trusting god through trials

And guess what? God blessed Job again. He gave him back everything he lost and even more! The Lord reminded Job, just as He reminds us, that He is good. He is powerful. We can trust Him even in the trials. When we go through hard times, we need to remember that God is doing something.

He has a plan and a purpose. Father, we love You because of who You are and what You have done for us. Give us faith. Help us trust You and love You even when life is hard.

Patrick and his wife Ruth are the founders of For the Family. They met while attending the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL, have been married for sixteen years and currently have four children ages five to thirteen. Here is the key idea to take away as a family: God is in control. While my cancer-scare ended up being a false alarm, since that day I have experienced great loss, suffered from a chronic illness, and walked through the valley of death. The Bible is rich with complex truths that we could spend a lifetime unpacking, but here are four truths that can help you trust God through your trials:.

Too often we assume that trusting in God means hiding our pain and putting on a cheerful face. It can actually be a form of spiritual denial. The psalmist starts with honesty, asking God why he is forsaken, why he finds no rest, and why he hears no answer from God. He also trusts God even while experiencing agony. We can pour out our deepest pain and darkest questions to God.

We can weep and mourn and lament the reality of our sufferings. We can lament while at the same time trusting in our future hope, whether that hope is in a better tomorrow, a blessed eternity, or both. This concept helped me when grieving the devastating loss of our firstborn. It may look more like Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane. Jesus felt the grief of this world, so how did he prevail?

This is the type of hope that can get us through hard days and nights. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith —of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. This short passage has a lot of truth to chew on, including the fact that suffering can help prove our faith, resulting in something more precious than gold. There is a paradoxical truth in the Bible that our pain is very real, but our joy is as well.

Trusting God through trials often means we need to stop always looking for God to take our problems away! Oh He will at times! But at times He needs us to go through stuff, and we need to pray for the faith , the grace and the mercy and the strength to get through it. We need to pray for God to show us the lesson He has for us in the trials of life.

Pray for that increase in faith so we can learn to lean more on Him. Pray for God to give us our ark in the flood, our fourth man in the fire, our angel to shut the mouth of the lions that want to devour us!

And if you do, you will come out of them not even smelling like smoke! All rights reserved. Used by permission of the Tree of Life Bible Society. This is such a great encouragement.

Thank you so much for this encouraging reminder!! I have been through some very challenging times but looking back can see why God walked me through those valleys and can also see that he never left me.

So profound — thank you for posting!! Not sure how I typed prayers instead. Yes, for all those reasons and more we can trust God in the midst of trails. This is definitely one of the hardest things to do and to explain: trusting God through trials.

But the rewards are also the greatest in these times if we can accomplish it. The fiery furnace has always been an amazing story to me because of their willingness to die. I do love that as well! They were so willing to risk everything to not offend God! Thank you so much Lisa! I love reading about people in the Bible who trusted God. Thank you for the beautiful examples. I have found I need to put my trust in God before I hit the trials. Then I only have to remind my myself I have already decided to put my trust in God.

Meditating on the real lives, stories and struggles of the people in the Bible is so important in times like these. Thanks for sharing. There are such amazing examples of trusting God through trials in the Bible.
